What happens to what you tell us on this site, in plain words.
Who We Are
The Dor Brothers works through two companies: The Dor Brothers LLC, 30 N Gould St Ste R, Sheridan, WY 82801, USA, and Dor Studios Unipessoal Lda, Rua 3 da Matinha 101, Edifício Altejo, 1950-326 Lisboa, Portugal. Together they are responsible for what you send through this site. If you hire us, your contract names the company you work with, and from then on that company looks after your project.
For anything about your data, with either company, write to info@thedorbrothers.com.
What We Collect
Only what you choose to send. The brief on our contact page asks what you need, your budget, a subject and a few words about the project, your name or company and your email address. The newsletter asks for your email address. If you write to us directly, we get what you write.
None of it is required, but without your email address we can’t write back. We don’t ask for anything else, and we don’t build profiles of visitors.
How It Reaches Us
When you press send, the site passes your message straight to our inbox as an email. The site itself keeps no copy. On the way it goes through Cloudflare, which runs this site and delivers the email, to our mailbox, which Google Workspace hosts. If you sign up for the newsletter, we add your address to Mailchimp, which sends it.
What We Use It For
To answer you and talk about your project. If you write for yourself, that’s a step you asked us to take before a contract. If you write for a company, it’s our legitimate interest in answering the people who contact us.
If you sign up for the newsletter, to send you news now and then. That rests on your consent.
And to keep the site and its forms safe from attacks and spam, which is our legitimate interest, as the spam check and hosting below explain.
We share your details only between our two companies and with the services named on this page.
How Long We Keep It
As long as we’re working with you, and after that as long as our records need it. Ask us to delete it and we will, unless the law makes us keep something, such as an invoice.
The Spam Check
When you start on a form, the page loads Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks quietly in your browser that a person is sending it. There is nothing to click. Cloudflare runs the check for us, and also uses what it sees to improve Turnstile, under its own privacy policy.
Our server also checks that the part of your email address after the @ can receive mail.
Films and YouTube
Our showreel and some of our films play from our own storage. The rest play through YouTube’s player, in its privacy-enhanced mode, and only once you press play. From then on YouTube, a Google service, receives your IP address and may store cookies under Google’s privacy policy.
Cookies
This site sets one small cookie of its own, called “door”. It remembers the door you chose, so the site opens the same way next time. It holds that door’s number and nothing else, and it lasts a year. Choose another door and it changes.
No advertising cookies, no tracking cookies.
Hosting
Cloudflare serves this site. Like any web server, it handles your IP address and details of your browser to deliver the pages and keep the site safe from attacks. We don’t use them to find out who you are.
Your Rights
Wherever you live, you can ask what we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, limit how we use it, or get a copy to take elsewhere. You can withdraw your consent to the newsletter at any time, through the link in every issue or by writing to us. Either of our companies will act on your request: write to info@thedorbrothers.com.
You can also complain to a data protection authority.
Your Right to Object
You can object at any time to our using your details for the newsletter, and we’ll stop. You can also object to anything we do because of our legitimate interests, and we’ll stop unless we have compelling reasons that outweigh yours, or need it for a legal claim.
Where It’s Handled
What you send is handled in Portugal and the United States, and wherever Cloudflare, Google and Mailchimp run their services. When it goes to them in the United States, it’s covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, which all three have joined, and by the EU’s standard contractual clauses as a backup. Write to us for a copy.
