Visualising Specific Ideas

In this chapter we will explore a unique technique for visualizing specific ideas that may not be easily created through text prompts alone.

In this episode, we will learn about a method that I have developed for effectively bringing abstract concepts to life in a way that is both intuitive and impactful.

Whether you are a designer, developer, or simply someone with a passion for creating, this technique will give you a powerful new tool for realizing your ideas in a visually striking manner."

A small technique I like doing while I have a very specific idea which I can’t seem to fulfil by pure text prompting - is creating a very basic mockup scene of that idea in Canva / Photoshop / Any other image editing software and using it as an image prompt.

The other day I wanted to create an image of astronauts burning art pieces hanged on the wall of a museum. (As a commentary about people hating on AI Art and wishing to destroy it, as a wink to the famous quote “Where they burn books they will also burn people”, in case you cared)

I was trying to do it through Midjourney for a short while, and not long after I realised it will take too long to make it happen by text prompting only.

So I went to Canva (A noob friendly website for basic design and image manipulation) and created a very basic (one might even say childishly talented) mockup image of the image I had in mind.

I then ran it as an image prompt with a fitting prompt:

As you can see with this technique I managed to bring my vision to life in no time, with quite impressive results.

I use this technique every time I need to make something very specific.

Midjourney is pretty good at understanding the context of initial lousy mockups and also seems to grasp the concept of the idea quite well with the help of a fitting text prompt.

To take it even further, we will use our first succesful render, you guessed it - as our new image prompt!

And Viola!

Now I’ll use this image as my new image prompt with the exact same text prompt as before!

Now check out what we got!

As you might have figured out, we can basically keep this chain going for as long as we want!

Everytime we get an image we like we can use it as the new image prompt, and step by step our image will come to life.

There is no rule for how much you need to keep going, just until you get a result you are happy with.

Here’s another short example:

First I made my (highly impressive) Canva mockup:

Then I ran it as an image prompt with a fitting text prompt:

Finally, I used my first result (the image above) as the new image prompt while keeping the same text prompt identical.

Now how about you try this technique yourself?

Go make a mockup for an idea you have and follow this process to get some crazy results!

Feel free to share them in our private discord channel and get some feedback.
