Creative Bloq sat down with Yonathan Dor at the Upscale Conference in Malaga for a deep dive into what drives The Dor Brothers beyond the viral clips. The answer is creative spirit over speed or savings.
Yonathan frames AI filmmaking as freedom of creative expression. He compares the technology to having a brilliant director of photography, a collaborator that sometimes generates something a hundred times better than what you envisioned. Rigid storyboards give way to organic discovery.
Satire, speed and cinematic craft
The studio can turn a satirical meme video around within a day of an event, but the commercial work and music videos demand the same editorial judgment as any traditional production. As Yonathan puts it, there are good commercials and bad commercials and the reason clients come to The Dor Brothers is the quality, not the price.
Eight scripts and a dream sequel
With eight scripts ready and an Idiocracy sequel among them, the next mission is a feature film with recognizable cast. Yonathan is clear that the technology is not quite there for a 90 minute film, but every tool update feels like Christmas. Current go-to tools are Veo 3 for dialogue and realism, and Hailuo for movement.
On accessibility he is uncompromising. What about the kid in Congo or Pennsylvania who wants to make a movie but has 20 dollars to his name? Are you going to tell him he is a thief? Let him make a movie.
